Admission Requirements
At the University of Maiduguri Business School (UMBS), we welcome ambitious individuals ready to advance their careers through quality education. Our admission process is designed to select candidates who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership potential, and a passion for innovation. Explore the specific requirements for each program below and take the next step toward your professional growth. Whether you’re pursuing a Doctorate, Master’s, Postgraduate Diploma, or Certificate Program, UMBS provides flexible learning options to fit your goals.
- A Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized university with at least a Third Class.
- HND holders with a minimum of Lower Credit in a relevant field may be considered.
- For PGD in specialized fields (e.g., PGD in Accounting, Criminology, Economics, Environmental Management, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering), candidates must have prior knowledge or work experience in the related field.
- Work experience may be required for some PGD programs.
- A Bachelor's degree with a minimum of Second Class Lower Division (2:2) from a recognized university.
- HND holders with a Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) in a relevant field may be considered.
- Relevant work experience (usually 2–5 years) may be required for some programs such as MBA and MPA.
- A good score in the university’s postgraduate entrance examination (if applicable).
- Candidates applying for MBA (Accounting, Finance, Management, Marketing, HRM, MIS) must have a background in Business, Accounting, Economics, or related fields.
- A Master’s degree in Public Administration or a related field from a recognized university with a minimum CGPA of 3.5 on a 5.0 scale.
- Candidates with relevant work experience in administration, governance, or policy-making may have an added advantage.
- Submission of a research proposal relevant to the chosen field.
- Satisfactory performance in an interview or entrance examination (if applicable).
- A minimum of five (5) O'Level credits, including English and Mathematics.
- Applicants with relevant work experience in procurement, logistics, or supply chain management may be considered, even if they lack formal academic qualifications.
- Open to professionals seeking career advancement in procurement and logistics.
- All applicants must possess a minimum of five (5) O'Level credits, including English and Mathematics.
- NYSC discharge, exemption, or exclusion certificate (for postgraduate applicants).
- Two academic or professional reference letters.
- Statement of purpose or personal statement (for Master's and Doctorate applicants).
- Applicants may be required to undergo a screening/interview process.
